An 11-year-old girl from Las Vegas spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

Karla Ortiz is a citizen, but her parents are undocumented immigrants.

She told the crowd about how she fears her parents could be deported.

"My parents came here looking for a better life, for the American dream," she said. "But I don't feel brave every day. On most days, I'm scared. I'm scared at any moment my mom and my dad will be forced to leave."

Karla went on to say that she wanted to be a lawyer when she grows up so she can help families like hers.

The girl appeared on stage with her mother, Francisca Ortiz, in support of Hillary Clinton.

Karla first met Clinton during a campaign event in Las Vegas. She was also featured in a campaign ad with Clinton.
