A couple of families say they caught 16 rats in just 30 days between their two homes near Desert Inn and Durango.

GiGi Olman says she's lived in Las Vegas since 1976 and never saw a single rat until a few months ago.

"We are infested with rats in Monaco," she said.

Olman says she saw one that was nearly two feet long and they found another with Cap'n Crunch cereal in its mouth.

"We've got a real problem in Las Vegas, we really do," she said. "It's like we're gonna have those rats like New York has."

Olman thinks the problem is too big for pest control companies because she already pays for two different services and the problem isn't getting any better.

She's made seven phone calls trying to get help including the Health District and her HOA but she says she's gotten nowhere.

13 Action News reached out to another pest control company that thinks they can tackle the problem. We will update the story once the families start seeing some results.
