Lane closures on side streets for Project Neon

Posted
and last updated

The official groundbreaking is weeks away but lane closures are already in effect for Project Neon.

Project Neon will eventually expand Interstate 15 near the Spaghetti Bowl.

This week, crews are making trenches for utilities on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Construction work will happen in the overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

It starts Tuesday night near Wall Street. Then Friday, they're doing work on Charleston Boulevard at Grand Central Parkway.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the preemptive side street work is important when the heavy lifting starts on Interstate 15 in 2018.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate routes, if possible.

Check the Project Neon website for up to date information. There is also a hotline available at: 702-486-0486; or in Spanish, at: 702-384-1694.
