LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Lake Mead National Recreation Area is reporting a huge increase in visitors over the last few months.
An additional 700,000 people visited the park between May and August in 2020 in comparison to the same time period in 2019.
3.7 million people passed through the park’s gates this summer. Although the park was closed for about 6 weeks at the beginning of the pandemic, the park has been fully open since mid-June and has attracted many visitors from the surrounding areas.
The only COVID closures that remain in effect are the park headquarters and lobby and the exhibits at the park visitor center.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area is in both Nevada and Arizona.
