LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Juneteenth march took place on Las Vegas-area streets Friday evening that included the Las Vegas Strip.
The march started near Sahara Avenue, west of Maryland Parkway, and substantially grew while the group made its way to the Strip.
The Black Lives Matter protesters blocked traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard at Flamingo Road during their demonstration at around 8:30 p.m. as the group went from demonstrating on the sidewalk to the middle of the road.
Cars were backed up in both directions on Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road while police intervened to disperse the crowd.
Similar rallies have taken place in the valley since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, calling for police reform and justice.
