A district judge has upheld a previous decision that would give Clark County School District teachers a raise.

CCSD filed an appeal in April challenging the arbitration ruling that gave teachers a raise.

An arbitrator's award issued March 30 moved teachers a step up in the salary scale as of June 1. The award also increased the district's health care contributions through the Teachers Health Trust effective July of last year.

The Clark County Education Association released a statement regarding the decision..

"It is time for CCSD to bring closure to this and do the right thing as the school year is about to begin, to respect educators and their families, and to acknowledge the hard work they do for our students and our community,” said John Vellardita, Executive Director of CCEA.

CCSD also released a brief statement, stating they just received notification of the decision, and their legal team is in the process of reviewing the judge's decision.
