YOU ASK. WE INVESTIGATE: Sewage floods North Las Vegas apartment, family forced out

A valley family's apartment was flooded with sewage, and the family says management wasn't moving them into a clean unit.

When Christine Powell flushed the toilet in her home near Craig Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard, water came up out of the tub.

"If it's poop coming through there, what's coming out of my sink?" she said.

The unexpected incident quickly became all-out flooding.

Carpets soaked through and floors were lifted up as water seeped from the walls. It was unlivable for Powell and her three young children. She says it smelled like a sewer.

Powell told us management wasn't able to find her another apartment to live in temporarily.

We were set to ask the manager what was being done, when she showed up while we spoke to Powell.

The manager told Powell the model home in the complex was available for her and her family to stay in.

Then, plumbers showed up. They told us they got the water flowing properly again.

Now, the apartment just needs to dry out and Powell will be able to move back home.
