Police say evidence at the scene, witnesses’ statements, and video surveillance indicated that a Lexus ES 350 was traveling eastbound on West Warm Springs Road at a high rate of speed in the only eastbound travel lane after fleeing from an attempted traffic stop from a Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper.
A 2006 Nissan Armada was traveling eastbound on West Warm Springs Road in front of the Lexus.
A 2014 Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound on West Warm Springs Road in the only travel lane, east of Arville Street.
And a 2006 Santa Fe was traveling westbound on West Warm Springs Road, a distance behind the Sentra.
Police say the Lexus approached the rear of the Armada and attempted to pass it, entering the westbound travel lanes, as the Sentra reached the same location.
Authorities say the Lexus struck the Armada’s left side and then the Sentra’s left side causing it to lose control.
The Armada lost control and left the roadway as the Lexus continued eastbound.
The Lexus then struck the Hyundai.
The Lexus redirected the Hyundai rearward as the Lexus rotated eastbound.
The Lexus driver was ejected and came to rest north of the roadway, near the vehicle.
Arriving emergency medical personnel transported the Lexus driver and the Hyundai driver to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where both remain in critical condition.
The driver of the Lexus has been identified as 30-year-old Tara Cheatham by authorities.
They also identified the driver of the Honda as 21-year-old Marcelo Lopez.
This collision remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
