HENDERSON (KTNV) — The Henderson Police Department reports it shot an alleged burglar during a confrontation on Monday night.
The shooting happened around 8:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of Stufflebeam Avenue, near Galleria Drive.
Police were watching a person they believed to be involved in several burglaries. Authorities later identified this person as 37-year-old Joshua Watkins and when officers attempted to stop him, Watkins ran away.
Officers gave chase and the HPD says an officer shot Watkins when he pulled a firearm on them.

Watkins was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before taken to the Henderson Detention Center.
Monday's incident was the first shooting involving officers in Henderson in 2021.

Watkins is facing charges of assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon and a registered ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
The HPD says the officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.
