Commissioner Jim Gibson helped break ground today on a new Las Vegas Strip pedestrian bridge in front of the Park MGM resort.
When complete, the bridge will carry pedestrians from the Park MGM across Las Vegas Boulevard to the Showcase Mall. Like other existing pedestrian bridges on the Strip, this bridge will have escalators and elevators on both sides. It is expected to open in July.
This will be the 17th pedestrian bridge along the Strip. The first bridges -- two at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard -- opened in 1995, and the newest one opened at Harmon Avenue in 2012.
