CARSON CITY (KTNV) — Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and first lady Kathy read to first-grade students at Empire Elementary School in Carson City Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Sisolak was greeted at the door of Mrs. Emily Drew's classroom with a hand-crafted welcome poster from students. The sign had every student's name along with a handprinted from letter from Drew's and Mrs. Eva Currence's classes.

After settling down in the classroom, the governor and his wife took turns reading the book "Trick-or-Treat Nevada."

After the story, students asked questions and explained how they were learning to be engineers with details of how they fixed one of their playground swings, according to a spokesperson for the Carson City School District.

Gov. Sisolak also invited all the students to trick-or-treat at the governor's mansion on Thursday.
