A young girl was shot by her father on Tuesday night near North Pecos Road and Alto Avenue.
It was reported around 8 p.m. Police say 31-year-old Zachary Cory was handling a small 22-caliber gun inside his home in the 2800 block of Taurus Court when the gun discharged.
A bullet hit his daughter, resulting in a serious injury.
She was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition at this time. The father was arrested and charged with felony child endangerment due to the way he handled the gun around his daughter.
Police say that another adult was in the home at the time.
Police tell 13 Action News they are ruling this incident an accident for right now.
"He wouldn't pull no gun out and point it towards his kids," said one of his neighbors. "He's not that type of person."
