The U.S. Marshal for the District of Nevada released the following statement explaining:
The U.S. Marshal for the District of Nevada and federal law enforcement agencies — including the U.S. Attorney, FBI, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service, and Homeland Security Investigations — are coordinating closely with our local and state law enforcement partners to ensure public safety in our communities. Together, we are leveraging all available resources to be prepared to respond quickly to threats or acts of violence.
We fully support and will protect the exercise of constitutional rights. But we will not tolerate violence. If anyone seeks to spark violence, our office’s role is clear: along with our law enforcement partners, we would hold accountable any agitators who interfere with the rights of peaceful protestors in Nevada, e.g., bringing federal charges against those who travel interstate to commit acts of violence in furtherance of a riot.
We have protected the Federal Judiciary since 1789 and are taking appropriate steps to continue to protect the Court and Court families to ensure access to justice by all.
The public is urged to report suspicious activity to authorities or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
