Firefighters were busy responding to two separate blazes Sunday afternoon.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded to a blaze at 1 p.m. in the 1800 block of Coolidge Street, near Tonopah Avenue and North Las Vegas Boulevard. The fire sent smoke into the air that could be seen around the valley.

The cause of that fire is unknown.

Just minutes before at 12:57 p.m., a fire was reported in the 8000 block of Retriever Avenue, near Twain Avenue and Cimarron Road.

When Clark County firefighters arrived at 1:08 p.m., smoke was seen from the backyard of the structure. There was trash burning in the backyard and up against the house.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread into the structure although there was damage to the exterior wall of the fireplace.

Four adults and 1 infant were displaced as a result of the fire.

The amount of damage on both fires is unknown.
