FBI warns of new scam targeting your paycheck

Scammers are going to new lengths to steal your money, and this latest scam involves your employer.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is issuing a warning about a new scam that is targeting your paycheck.

Scammers will send an email that looks like it’s from your employer. The email will ask you to log in for a survey or another type of phising prompt, which will allow hackers to capture your work username and password.

Then, the criminals will log into your work account to change your direct deposit information. Officials say the scammers will usually transfer those funds into a prepaid credit card.

The FBI urges people to never share login information by email. Also, take extra time to investigate who is sending the email.

Often times, hovering your mouse over the sender’s name will reveal the email address. If it seems suspicious, don’t click on a link.
