LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The father of a 1-year-old boy who was killed in a horrific car crash near Lake Mead and Rampart boulevards is speaking out.
“He didn’t deserve that,” says Cameron Jones, father. “He was so perfect.”
The mother of 1-year-old Royce Jones, 23-year-old Lauren Prescia, was behind the wheel and caused the crash, according to police.
She’s also believed to have been under the influence, per investigators.

Jones says he was on the phone with Prescia as her car sped up Rampart, and asked her to slow down.
“At the same time I’m telling her you have my son in the car,” says Jones.
Police say Prescia accelerated to 120 mph before crashing.
Jones watched the crash happen right in front of him and was unable to stop it.
“I seen him in his car seat, I got him out, I thought he was okay until I felt his head and then I knew,” says Jones.
His son was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones’ grandmother Candice Welcome raced to the intersection when she heard about the crash.
“I had to bring his toys, I had to grab his blanket because he needed those things,” says Welcome.
Instead of anger, Jones hopes that Prescia is okay.
“She made a mistake, and my son paid for it,” says Jones.
