A family scrambled for their lives as a fire blazes through their homes.

It happened on Vincent Way and Peggy Drive.

The smoke was so thick that firefighters could barely see in front of them.

The fire broke out just before 2:30 Thursday afternoon.

Smoke quickly filled every room as flames raced through the house.

All seven family members, a mom a dad and their five kids, ran to safety.

Fire officials say only the mom suffered injuries. She rushed to get her children out. In her haste, she no time to put on shoes and burned the bottoms of her feet on the scorching pavement.

The children were staying with family members nearby.

The Red Cross was at the home to offer help.

Two pets were also inside. It was not clear what happened to them.
