UPDATE AT 1:50 P.M. It is officially the hottest day of the year so far, according to 13 Action News Chief Meteorologist Bryan Scofield. 

UPDATE AT NOON: Cooling stations have been opened around the Las Vegas valley (and in Laughlin) for anyone who made need them. It is already above 100 degrees and the temperature is still rising.

Temperatures around the Las Vegas valley are expected to reach 108° today.

As the result of the high temperatures, an excessive heat warning to be issued for the Las Vegas area.

This is the fifth day this year that temperatures will be in the triple digits.
