A 25-year-old former Nevada correctional officer is going to prison for smuggling drugs to inmates at a facility where he worked outside Las Vegas.

Kaleo Gedge was sentenced Thursday in Las Vegas to 18 months to 4 years for his Sept. 28 guilty pleas to felony drug transport and providing a controlled substance to an inmate charges.

His defense attorney, Michael Sanft, didn't immediately respond to messages.

Gedge was arrested in September after investigators heard current and former High Desert State Prison inmates talking on a monitored phone call about leaving money and methamphetamine in a soft drink cup near a northwest Las Vegas freeway.

Gedge was arrested after he picked up the cup on the way to work.

Police reported confiscating 62 grams of methamphetamine, or a little more than 2 ounces.
