Enforcement of HOV lane rules will begin on Thursday.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers will begin giving tickets to drivers who violate the rules of the new carpool lanes on Interstate 15 and US 95.
The fine for violating the rules is $250 for first offense.
Drivers in the new HOV lanes must also have at least one passenger in their vehicle. Pets do not count. Motorcyclists are also allowed to use the lanes.
