LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The search for a principal at a Las Vegas valley school now involves an embattled former superintendent from Northern Nevada who was terminated from her position and is in the middle of litigation.

Traci Davis could be the new leader of West Prep Academy.Davis is the former superintendent of the Washoe County School District.

Clark County School District says she is the recommended candidate for principal at West Prep Academy near Owens Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The district says she was recruited through a selection process involving educators and parents that included a reference check.

Superintendent Jesus Jara released this statement saying, "I am extremely excited to recommend a proven leader to turnaround West Prep Academy,"

Davis has a checkered history in Washoe County, filing a lawsuit against her former school district for wrongful termination.

The school board voted 6-1 in July to fire her. The district said it had evidence she was leaking confidential information to a former employee who was engaged in an unrelated legal matter.

Davis filed her lawsuit in August accusing the school district of a breach of contract and violation of due process. Her attorney denies the district's claim that she leaked sensitive information.

The CCSD Board of Trustees will have final say as to whether she becomes the new principal in a vote.

Davis told our sister station KOLO in Reno that a decision on whether she become principal is likely to happen in November.
