LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Elon Musk's futuristic underground people mover, currently under construction at the Las Vegas Convention Center, may soon expand to other properties on the Las Vegas Strip.
Both the Wynn and Resorts World have submitted land-use applications and design plans to connect to the Boring Company's transport system.
The project promises is to transport passengers from those properties to the Las Vegas Convention Center using underground tunnels and all-electric Tesla vehicles, another company owned by Musk.
Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill said the goal is to connect all of The Strip's properties and continue into the community with connections to Allegiant Stadium and McCarran Airport.
"It's more than two who want to do this," he said, "but these are the first two that make sense."
Officials say the ride will take just under two minutes.
The county must now approve the plans. If approved, construction is anticipated to begin later this year.
Resorts World Las Vegas is scheduled to open summer 2021.
