With brutally cold temperatures along much of the East Coast, some have escaped to Las Vegas and its significantly warmer temperatures.
Temperatures have been well below freezing in New York City with temperatures below zero degrees Sunday while temperatures in Washington, D.C., were in the single digits.
Ronald Heins, from Washington D.C., said he doesn't need his coat now that he is in Las Vegas.
"I'm going throw that in my suitcase as soon as I get it," he said once he arrived as McCarran International Airport.
Meanwhile, a life-long New Yorker said he has never seen it quite this cold in the city.
"It's been brutally cold," Frank Garcia. "So bad that the mayor said it's a blue alert."
While it is painful for some in New York, it almost feels boiling in Las Vegas, about 70 degrees warmer.
