Driver dies of injuries after hitting parked cars in July

The driver of a Hyundai that hit several parked cars in July died of blunt force injuries from the incident.  

Around 7:30 p.m. July 9, a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on Torrey Pines Drive, south of Alta Drive, when it failed to maintain its travel lane. The Hyundai drifted to the right shoulder and struck two, unoccupied parked vehicles resulting in moderate to major
damage.

Police and medical personnel responded to the collision scene and the 71-year-old male driver of the Hyundai refused medical transport. A 67-year-old passenger in the car received minor injuries.
 
On July 10, the driver of the Hyundai was transported to UMC Trauma and admitted for injuries. On July 20, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
 
On Sept. 6, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Fatal Detail received the reports from the Clark County coroner. The cause of death was determined to be complications of blunt force abdominal injury and the manner of death was ruled an accident.
 
This collision marks the 71st traffic-related fatality in LMVPD's jurisdiction in 2016.
