Dogs alert homeowner to invader

Posted

A quick-thinking homeowner spoiled an attempted break-in on Wednesday.

It happened late at night in the northeast part of the valley.

Nancy Ruggeri says a man tried to force his way into her home while she slept.

She says if her two dogs weren't barking, she doesn't know what may have happened.

Ruggeri's son called Las Vegas police, who later caught the would-be home invader.

Officers also found out that the thief was driving a stolen car.

That vehicle has been returned to its owner.

Ruggeri says she is grateful for the police department's quick action.
