Deadline approaching to apply for UNLV grant

If you are a student and are still looking for money to pay for college, UNLV may be able to help.

However, the deadline to apply is quickly approaching.

The Tution+ grant ranges from $1,700 to $8,000. The grant is meant to cover costs that Pell grants do not. That includes tuition fees and courses materials.

The National Association of College Stores says students spend $942 on average on course materials and $414 of that is spent on books alone.

Tuition+ can provide a grant for 12 undergrad credit hours of tuition and fees each semester along with $1,000 a year for books.

To apply, you must have a GPA of 2.25 or higher, be a Nevada resident, be a UNLV undergrad, and have less than 135 completed credit hours.

The award amount will depend on your FAFSA and your family's income.

The deadline to apply this year is Dec. 1.
