Roads near Charleston Boulevard and Maryland Parkway were closed off around 7:09 p.m. Friday after a series of crashes.
Police say a red Dodge Magnum crashed into another vehicle about a mile away from the intersection. The Magnum fled the scene and ran a red light near Charleston and Maryland, where the driver crashed into a Mustang.
The passenger in the Dodge sustained significant head and neck injuries. She is in critical condition.
Police say the driver of the Dodge briefly fought with firefighters on scene before being taken to the hospital.
Witnesses report the Dodge was weaving in and out of traffic before the crash. Officers took the driver of the Dodge into custody for DUI charges.
The driver of the Mustang was also taken to the hospital. Reports say he was walking around the scene before getting into the ambulance.
