UPDATE: The woman who was fatally shot on Sunday has been identified as 46-year-old Ladonna Marie Metais from Las Vegas.

The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County coroner.

ORIGINAL STORY

A woman is dead after she was shot on Sunday night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of North Campbell Road, which is near West Ann and North Fort Apache roads.

Arriving officers located an adult female in the doorway of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The woman was transported to the UMC Trauma Center where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Investigators say the woman had been standing out on the porch with two other people when a vehicle stopped in front of the residence and several gunshots were fired from the vehicle.

The victim was struck at least once and she fell to the ground. The car left the scene before officers’ arrival, and it could only be described as a newer dark colored 2-door vehicle.

"She's always been very generous, very loving and the life of the party," said Jacklyn Frank, daughter of victim. "She would always just make everything fun and I just can't believe that she's gone."

This is the 91st homicide investigated by the LVMPD Homicide Section in 2016.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

No suspect or suspects are in custody and the motive is unknown.
