LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Police have connected one person to the deaths of four people in Las Vegas beginning in 2021.

Michael Coleman was was arrested in 2023 for the shooting death of Kidada Stewart.

Since the time of this arrest, police have connected him to the deaths of William Hill, Marcus Larry and Benjamin McCarty.

According to police, Coleman worked for Carl Chester, who was operating what police called a "criminal enterprise."

According to police, Chester defrauded the government of multiple Paycheck Protection Program loans. Chester then dispersed the fraud money to people while receiving a cut of the funds.

When individuals didn't give Chester the cut of the money, he would threaten those people and in some cases resort to violence. Chester would hire Coleman to murder those who owed Chester money, according to police.

If Coleman was unable to get to the actual individual who received the money, he would target a loved one. This is what happened in the case of Stewart's and Hill's deaths.

In May of 2021, Coleman shot Benjamin McCarty in the 3900 block of East Charleston Boulevard, west of Lamb Boulevard. Police said this shooting was actually not connected to Chester but instead related to gang activity involving Coleman and McCarty.

Six months later, Marcus Larry was shot and killed inside a Teriyaki Madness on Charleston Boulevard in Summerlin. Police said Coleman followed Larry into the restaurant and shot him as he was trying to order food.

In November of 2022, Coleman shot William Hill outside of his home. Police said this was an instance of Hill being the target because his son, who actually had the fraud money, was in police custody.

Carl Chester was shot and killed earlier this year. Coleman now faces four murder charges.
