UPDATE: A fundraiser has been coordinated to help Ralston.

ORIGINAL STORY: A thief stole a wallet, cash and a cell phone from a Dollar Tree employee in Henderson Wednesday night.

Laurie Ralston was helping close the Dollar Tree location on Green Valley Parkway and Sunset Road Wednesday when a customer started making small talk with her and another employee.

Ralston said the man left, then came back to exchange an item.

"He exchanged it and then he said, 'Well can I fix my bike right here?' and we said, 'Sure', not thinking anything of it," Ralston said.

Ralston went about her duties. When she got ready to leave for the night, she noticed all of her personal items that were left behind a secured counter were missing.

Surveillance video showed the man sneaking behind the counter and walking away with Ralston's stuff.

"It's just hard to believe that somebody's going to do this to you. You don't think about those things when you're working," Ralston said through tears.

Ralston reported the crime to Henderson Police. She hopes her items, especially her cell phone, will be recovered.
