UPDATE: Coroner identifies victim of fatal suspected DUI crash

UPDATE NOV. 25: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim of the fatal crash as 50-year-old Joseph Strong, Jr. His death was due to multiple blunt force injuries and it was ruled an accident.

ORIGINAL STORY
On Nov. 23 at about 10:59 p.m., a fatal crash took place at the intersection of West Charleston Boulevard and South Rampart Boulevard.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says the evidence at the scene and video footage shows a white Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Charleston Boulevard when it ran a red light at the Rampart Boulevard intersection.

The Honda struck a 2007 Toyota Tacomo as it was making a left turn from Charleston to Rampart.

The front of the Honda struck the right front of the Toyota, resulting in major damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Toyota died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda had moderate injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma for further medical attention, where he is said to be stable.

Police say the driver of the Honda showed signs of impairment and was later placed under arrest.

The Toyota driver's death marks the 90th traffic-related death in the LVMPD's Jurisdiction for the year 2020. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
