Robber beats up 66-year-old 7-Eleven employee over several beers

A man and a woman are facing battery and robbery charges after allegedly beating up a 66-year-old 7-Eleven employee over several cans of beer.

Police say the incident happened around 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 23 near Sahara Avenue and Lamb Boulevard. According to an arrest report, the man and woman entered the 7-Eleven, took a lighter and several cans of beer, and attempted to exit the store without paying.

A female employee tried to stop them before they left but was shoved aside. A 66-year-old male employee chased after them as they left the store, but was struck on the side of the head by the man who was trying to steal the beer.

The male employee was taken to the hospital for lacerations on his ear and neck and treated for his injuries.

Police were able to track down the man and the woman around 9:10 a.m. near Sandhill Avenue and Glen Road, about a mile away from the robbery. They were taken into custody after being identified by the employees at the 7-Eleven.
