LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Police are investigating a homicide early Wednesday morning.
During a briefing with media, officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed they first received a call around 4:30 a.m.

Lt. Jason Johannson said officers responded to the 600 block of 6th Street, near Hoover and Charleston, to a report of a man down on the sidewalk.
When they arrived, officers found a man who appeared to be in his 60s on the ground bleeding and eventually learned he was suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Johansson told media based on witness interviews, the victim is believed to be unhoused. He also told media that a man wearing a light colored shirt and blue jeans was seen leaving the area around the time of the call, and he is a person of interest at this time.
As of Wednesday morning, S 6th Street is closed from Charleston Boulevard north to Gass Avenue.
