Police evacuate gift shop on Las Vegas Boulevard due to woman with knife

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police had to evacuate a popular gift store on Las Vegas Boulevard Monday night due to an armed woman inside the store.

Officers were called the Bonanza Gift Shop located at 2460 South Las Vegas Blvd., near Sahara Avenue, just after 7:30 p.m. with reports of an agitated woman inside the store with a knife.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it contained the suspect and evacuated the area for the active incident.

Additional resources were also called to assist officers in trying to resolve the situation, according to the LVMPD.

Authorities informed 13 Action News that the woman was eventually taken into police custody around 9:30 p.m., but she was not clothed and may have been under the influence or dealing with some sort of a mental disorder.

Police said the woman suffered minor cuts in the incident and the situation remains under investigation.
