UPDATE 5 P.M.: Neighbors described constant fights in the months before police say a teen shot both of his parents, killing his father Thursday.

Nolan Turner grew up living next door to the 15-year-old boy who is now in custody for the shooting.

"We used to play outside with him and his younger brother and used to play basketball and ride scooters," Turner said. "I know he's been odd but I never saw him being capable of this."

Turner's father described hearing fighting at the family's home and even seeing police called out several times.

"I know he's definitely had some issues with his parents, because like I said he's had behavioral issues," Nolan Turner said.

Police did not release any information on the family's history. They did say the teen's mother fired back at her son after being shot.

The teen is in custody but expected to recover at the hospital along with his mother. Police are still trying to determine where the teen got the gun from, but neighbors say the family did have several guns in their home.

UPDATE 1 P.M.: Police say a 15-year-old shot his father in the head in the garage of a home in the 9900 block of Barrier Reef.  The teen then shot his mother in the lower abdomen. The mother, who is in her late-40s, managed to grab the gun and shoot at the teen. A bullet struck him in the groin area.

Officers then said the teen fled the home, jumped over the back wall, and was taken into custody about a quarter mile away from the scene of the shootings.

Both the teen and the mother have been transported to UMC Trauma and are expected to survive.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Las Vegas police received a 911 call around 10:47 a.m. claiming someone had been shot in the 9900 block of Barrier Reef near Hualapai Way and Desert Inn Road.

They then received reports of a person in the area saying that someone was shot and possibly dead inside of a nearby residence.

Officers have since found that three people were shot inside of the home and one of those people has been pronounced dead. A teen police believe to be around 15-years-old was transported to UMC Trauma with a gunshot wound.

Police are currently unsure of who was at fault and no arrest have been made.
