One person was possibly pistol-whipped during a fight at a southwest Las Vegas shopping center Saturday afternoon.

The shooting was reported around 2:15 p.m. at 7200 Arroyo Crossing Parkway, near Rainbow Boulevard and the 215 beltway. It occurred in the parking lot near the Dotty's.

Police said there was a fight between two groups when the person was possibly pistol-whipped. Police had originally said the person had been shot in the head but that was later determined to be false.

Both vehicles took off after the incident. One vehicle ended up in the parking lot of the Enterprise Area Command, near Windmill Lane and Rainbow Boulevard. The other car was found nearby.

One witness told 13 Action News that it sounded like a case of reckless driving that escalated into a confrontation between two groups and shots fired.

Las Vegas police said this fight might have been a case of self-defense.
