ORIGINAL STORY:

The victim died of his injuries in Sunday's stabbing.

He was identified as 31-year-old Michael William Omalia.

Homicide detectives determined the victim had been at a residence located in the 200 block of Sir Phillip Street, when he got into a verbal altercation, and then a physical fight, with another man.

During that fight, the victim was stabbed and he was transported to University Medical Center by a friend who was also present.

In addition to the stabbing turning into a homicide, there was a big police presence later in the evening a block from where the homicide happened.

13 Action News watched police arrest a man with long shaggy hair near Stewart Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Police confirmed this incident was related to the homicide but would not say how.

However, police said Monday that no suspect has been arrested in the fatal stabbing. Police added that the motive is unknown.

According to police Sunday, the suspect is a Hispanic man on a bicycle.

This is the 111th homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016.
