LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Officers responded to an unusual call early Tuesday morning in west Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says officers were called about a disturbance with a woman possibly armed inside an apartment complex located at 7950 W. Flamingo Road, west of Buffalo Drive, at about 4:45 a.m.
A woman called authorities after a fellow resident came to her apartment and threw a hammer or hatchet at her, according to police.
The object narrowly missed the caller, but the aggressor remained at her door and was hitting it with that same item while police were being called.
Arriving officers located the woman in question inside a nearby apartment, but she refused to come out.
SWAT was eventually called to the scene, and authorities took the reported armed woman into custody at about 7:20 a.m. after she came out of the apartment.
Police activity had a portion of Flamingo Road closed at the scene while the situation was active.
The LVMPD released no further immediate details.
