LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One person is dead following a shooting on the 3800 block of Royal Crest Street Thursday night.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says two victims with gunshot wounds were found after multiple reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the area of Twain Avenue and University Center Drive.

A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital, said Lt. Jason Johansson. A woman in her 20s had "non-life-threatening" injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined "both victims were outside of an apartment when a physical altercation occurred involving multiple subjects," police said. "During the altercation, an unknown male suspect produced a firearm and shot both victims as they entered the apartment," but the shooter fled the area before officers arrived.

In April 2023, police announced the arrest of a suspect in this case.

18-year-old Jayda Jones was apprehended and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon, according to police.
