ORIGINAL STORY
HENDERSON (KTNV) -- Henderson police say a man connected to a suspected stolen motorcycle shot at officers and they returned fire near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road on Thursday.

The department says an officer was conducting a traffic stop on a motorcycle with two people on board.

During the stop, the officer learned it was reported stolen and requested additional units.

One of the riders pointed officers in the direction of the supposed owner, and when they went to question him, he ran off into the backyard of a nearby home on Cannes Street near Madrid Avenue.

Officers went into the backyard and that's when police say there was an exchange of gunfire.

"When I got back I noticed my mom was standing outside and I just wanted to make sure she was OK and she wasn't in trouble," said Austin Bean, a witness.
