A man was shot while on a bus early Saturday morning.
Police said the shooting occurred on Nellis Boulevard and Desert Inn Road around 1:30 a.m.
The man was hit and transported to Sunrise Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Nearby residents tell Action News they are shocked because the neighborhood is generally peaceful. Crystal Williamson only lives a few blocks from where the shooting happened. She says she rarely worries about her safety.
"I walk at night,” she said. “I've been out at 10, 11, going to the store."
Her husband Vernel does the same thing.
"It's quiet,” he says. “It's clean, but once in a while we do get some problems."
Crystal says she has observed gang activity in the area before.
“There is some gang stuff going on but it's not really relevant to other people. They kind of keep it within themselves."
She believes the shooting may have been avoided if there was a greater police presence around.
"They could maybe beef up the police patrol," she said.
Officials are trying to determine where the shots came from and are unsure whether the man on the bus was targeted or if it was random.
Police are continuing to investigate.
