UPDATE: Las Vegas police said the man involved in the Feb. 16 shooting died of his injuries. He was identified as 21-year-old Edgar Contreras from Las Vegas.
Officers at UMC Trauma made contact with the male victim, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck and listed in critical condition.
Homicide detectives were informed Feb. 26 that the man had died.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined the victim and a family member were driving near the area of Stewart Place Park, located near Teakwood Avenue and Montello Avenue, when they became involved in a verbal altercation with a driver of a separate vehicle. The argument escalated and the victim was shot.
This is the 25th homicide investigated by Las Vegas police in 2017.
As of this release, no suspect has been identified and the motive is unknown.

Police are investigating a shooting in the 3400 block of Marquette Drive, which is near Gowan and Pecos roads, on Thursday.
Police say that a man walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was transferred to University Medical Center.
