Man serving 10 Years to Life dies in Carson City

Inmate Stanford Griffin died at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on Dec. 6 around 1:30 p.m., according to the Nevada Department of Corrections. He was 61 years old.

Griffin was housed in the Regional Medical Facility inside Northern Nevada Correctional Center before he was admitted to the hospital. 

NDOC says that Griffin was committed from Clark County on May 6, 2010, and was a 4th termer with the NDOC. He was serving a sentence of 10 years to Life with the possibility of parole for being a habitual criminal.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death. Next of kin have been notified.
