A valley man says just as he was celebrating America's birthday, someone else was disrespecting it.

"It's disrespectful, it's a slap in the face to everybody," says Jacob Davis. "Or at least it should be."

Davis' hood of his truck is now burnt and melted, and the flag pole attached to his rear bumper now sits empty. He says somebody tore down his American flag and set it on fire on the hood of his truck.

"The carabineer clip that used to hold the flag up is still here, that's how we knew what it was," says Davis.

He says it happened early Monday morning, just hours after Davis proudly displayed that American flag as he drove his truck down Las Vegas Boulevard, with nearly 100 other drivers.

"It's important to show that we're proud to be here, we're proud to be an American," says Davis.

He says to make matters worse, this happened on the 4th of July.

"The truck can be fixed, it's the fact that there's people out there that genuinely despise the American flag and everything it stands for," says Davis.

Davis says he did file a police report and hopes this person gets caught.
