A Nevada man has pleaded guilty to raping and killing a 7-year-old girl more than 25 years ago.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports 47-year-old Gregory Wallen pleaded guilty Monday to murder and sexual assault of a minor.
Las Vegas police found the body of Diana Hernandez in a cardboard box in a trash bin the day after she went missing in April 1994.
Police matched DNA and a fingerprint on the box to Wallen, who had lived in the same apartment building as Hernandez.
Prosecutors agreed to drop the death penalty in exchange for Wallen's guilty pleas.
The plea agreement calls for two sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
