UPDATE: The Clark County coroner has identified the deceased as 28-year-old Avery Joseph Turner. His city of residence is not known. Cause of death was a gunshot wound to the pelvis and his death was ruled a homicide.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A man died in a shooting early Saturday morning.
Police said around 2:10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Jones Boulevard near Smoke Ranch Road, the man was found lying in the median with a gunshot wound.
He was transported to UMC Trauma where he succumbed to his injury.
Homicide detectives determined the victim was seen with a possible suspect just before the shots were fired. The incident reportedly occurred in an alleyway south of the Ashford Manor apartment complex on the southwest corner of North Jones Boulevard and Smoke Ranch Road.
After the victim was shot, he walked to the center median of Jones where he was found by officers. The suspect ran into the apartment complex.
The suspect has not been identified and the motive is unknown.
The suspect can only be described as a black man in his 20s. He stood approximately 5’6” tall, had short hair, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and red pants.
This is the 76th homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
