A man is dead after a shooting late Saturday night.
Around 11 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department patrol officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Palm Street, near Charleston Boulevard and Fremont Street, to investigate reports of a shooting. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by medical personnel to the University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives determined that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a light-colored, possibly newer model 4-door sedan. An occupant fired several times at the victim, striking him. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Olive Street at a high rate of speed.
This is the 100th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Police said no suspect or suspects have been identified and the motive remains unknown.
