UPDATE: Robbery suspect in custody after barricade

UPDATE: The suspect was taken into custody more than 6 hours after the incident robbery incident. SWAT went inside the apartment to apprehend the suspect around 9:20 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Las Vegas police have responded to a barricade situation after a robbery Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the barricaded suspect is in an apartment complex in the 9900 block of West Russell Road, near Grand Canyon Drive. Nearby apartments have been evacuated.

The call originated at 2:42 p.m. as a strong-armed robbery to a convenience store in the 5300 block of South Fort Apache Road, near Hacienda Drive. Police said the suspect jumped over the counter of the store and grabbed money out of the cash drawer.

Police said no weapon was used during the robbery.

A person of interest was taken into custody without incident after a short foot pursuit. An additional suspect is believed to be outstanding and may still be in the apartment.
