LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — At least one person is dead following a stabbing in the central valley on Wednesday morning, according to Las Vegas police.
In a press conference, Lt. Jason Johannson said the stabbing occurred near Katie Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
He said first responders received a call at 8:58 a.m. that an unresponvie man was seen lying on a sidewalk.
Officers arrived within two minutes of that call and medical personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Police said he had multiple stab wounds and a knife was recovered.
Investigators said a suspect in the case was taken into custody near Flamingo and Maryland Parkway around 10 a.m.
As of Wednesday morning, police said they don't know what led up to the incident or what the suspect's motive was.
Johansson said Katie Avenue at Maryland Parkway going west will be shut down until around 1 p.m. while investigators continue to process the scene.
