LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers were dispatched today to a call near Edna Avenue and Cimarron Road at about 4:21 p.m. to investigate reports of an adult male suffering from a possible mental episode.
LVMPD says the man had fired multiple rounds inside of his residence.
Once officers arrived they set up a perimeter around the residence and attempted to contact the man inside.
The man exited the residence armed with a handgun at which point, two officers fired multiple rounds striking him.

Officers immediately went to aid the man, called for medical assistance, however, the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time his identity has not been released.
This is the 12th officer-involved shooting of 2020.
LVMPD policy states the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
